World Oceans Day: How Parley For The Oceans Collaborates With Iconic Brands Like Dior, Adidas And Talisker To Protect Our Seas

Following

As the world celebrates World Oceans Day, it is essential to acknowledge the collective efforts of brands that are working towards sustainable and eco-conscious practices. Parley for the Oceans, a renowned conservation organization, has established groundbreaking partnerships with industry leaders to address the urgent need to protect our oceans. In collaboration with Dior, Talisker, and Adidas, Parley has embarked on transformative initiatives that leverage innovation, design, and eco-innovation to tackle the environmental crisis. Here are three ways to support their work:

Dior and Parley for the Oceans

Pioneering Eco-Innovative Fashion Dior, a symbol of elegance and creativity, has embraced its partnership with Parley for the Oceans, resulting in remarkable achievements. Building upon their joint research project that commenced in 2019, the duo presented their first beachwear collection last year. The collection, crafted from Parley Ocean Plastic consistent of plastic waste and abandoned fishing gear found in various locations worldwide, showcased new high-quality yarns and fabrics.

Dior and Parley are now launching their second “Beach Capsule Collection", reinforcing their commitment to supporting Parley in its mission to protect the oceans. Kim Jones, Dior Men's artistic director, expressed his pride in achieving a 96 percent eco-responsible collection that combines innovation, technical performance, and elegance.

“Together with Kim Jones and his fantastic team we have delivered the proof that driving the material revolution is not a sacrifice, but answers to a new desire: to protect the oceans, to protect our climate and to protect our future,” said CEO and founder of Parley, Cyrill Gutsch.

Talisker and Parley for the Oceans

Talisker and Parley for the Oceans: Preserving Sea Forests and Ecosystems Talisker, a renowned distillery located on the Isle of Skye, has partnered with Parley for the Oceans to address the vanishing sea forests and protect vital underwater habitats. The collaboration has given rise to the limited-edition "Wilder Seas" bottle, designed to represent the undulating underwater landscape and the importance of sea forests. £3 from each Wilder Seas bottle sold will directly support Parley's conservation efforts.

The funds raised will be used to preserve three sea forests situated off the coasts of Scotland, South Africa, and Chile. These underwater ecosystems are critical for marine biodiversity, water purification, carbon sequestration, and shoreline protection. By collaborating with local organizations, such as Fundación Rompientes in Chile, Parley and Talisker are actively working towards safeguarding these majestic forests.

Cyril Gutsch emphasized the significance of sea forests for planetary health and highlighted their role in mitigating climate change impacts.

“Sea forests are as crucial to planetary health as any terrestrial ecosystem, yet their disappearance has largely gone unnoticed. Like forgotten guardians of the sea, sky and land, towering kelps beneath the surface harbor vast marine biodiversity, purify surrounding waters, regulate pH, sequester carbon, release oxygen, protect coastlines from storms and erosion and buffer us all from the worst impacts of climate change. Together with Talisker, we’re bridging design, eco-innovation and conservation in a tribute that honors the beauty and fragility of these magical forests and supports the work towards their protection.”

The collaboration between Talisker and Parley bridges design, eco-innovation, and conservation, paying homage to the beauty and fragility of these vital ecosystems.

Adidas and Parley for the Oceans

Transforming Plastic Waste into Performance Adidas, a global leader in sports apparel, has fostered a longstanding partnership with Parley for the Oceans, actively contributing to the reduction of plastic waste. The collaboration has led to the creation of the adidas Football x Parley Boot Pack—the first-ever boot collection partially made from Parley Ocean Plastic.

Through this innovative endeavor, plastic waste intercepted from remote islands, beaches, and coastal communities is repurposed to prevent it from polluting our oceans. The new boot pack, featuring stunning lucid blue and white colorways with elegant wave-patterned designs, underscores Adidas' dedication to reducing plastic waste and its commitment to replacing virgin polyester with recycled alternatives by 2024.
