Advertisers will need to be certified and meet Google's specific requirements. The new policy takes effect in January 2024.
Google is updating its Cryptocurrencies and related products policy to provide clear guidance on the scope and requirements for advertising Cryptocurrency Coin Trusts.
Starting Jan. 29, advertisers offering Cryptocurrency Coin Trust targeting the U.S. will need to be certified and meet Google’s specific requirements, according to Google’s announcement.
Why we care. If you advertise Cryptocurrency Coin Trust in the U.S., be sure to apply for certification and adhere to Google’s requirements now. Preparing now will avoid any issues when the update takes effect next year.
Certification. Advertisers can promote complex financial products like cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets on Google Ads, but must have Google certification. Certification is mandatory for all ad formats, and advertisers must fulfill local licensing criteria.
To get certification, advertisers must apply to Google.
Local laws. Ads, products and landing pages comply with the legal requirements of the target country or region. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these products.
Penalty. Accounts won’t be suspended without 7 days’ prior warning.
